Most portable fire pits are either too flimsy to produce real heat or too heavy to carry. The Spark 15″ is neither. It’s an 8-lb collapsible fire pit with the same double-wall smokeless technology as our full-size Ember series — engineered down to a size that collapses flat and slides into a backpack, dry bag, or kayak hatch.

Set it up on a beach, a campsite, a riverbank, or a tailgate parking lot. Unfold the legs, lock the walls, and you have a smokeless fire pit producing clean, bright flames in about 10 minutes. When you’re done, let it cool, collapse it flat, and pack out. Total packed height: 3 inches.

Full Smokeless Performance, Compact Package

The Spark uses the same passive double-wall airflow as the Ember 19″ and XL. Cold air enters the base, heats between the walls, and exits as superheated jets through the rim — igniting smoke before it rises. The smaller size means the walls heat up faster (about 8–10 minutes vs. 15 for the Ember 19″), so you reach smokeless mode quicker.

The trade-off is fire size and seating capacity. The 15″ diameter comfortably serves 2–4 people. It’s not a backyard centerpiece — it’s a real fire for small groups in the field.

Where the Spark Excels

• Camping — Car camping, canoe camping, bike-packing base camps. At 8 lbs, it’s the heaviest item you’d backpack but the lightest fire pit you can buy.
• Beach bonfires — Contained fire means no digging a sand pit and no Leave No Trace violations. Ash stays in the removable pan, not on the beach.
• Tailgating — Toss it in the trunk next to the cooler. Sets up in 60 seconds, produces zero smoke, and breaks down when the game starts.
• Overlanding — Straps to the outside of a pack or slides behind a vehicle seat. Useful at dispersed campsites with fire bans on ground fires.

Collapsible Design Details

The Spark’s four-panel wall system hinges open and locks into the circular shape with a pin mechanism. No tools required. The legs unfold from the base and click into position. Total setup time: about 60 seconds. Breakdown is the reverse — unlock, fold, stuff into the included sack.

Tips for Best Performance

• Start small. Begin with fine kindling at the bottom. The compact firebox doesn’t have room for a big log structure — build a small teepee of kindling and add progressively larger pieces.
• Don’t overload. Fill to about two-thirds capacity. Overfilling smothers airflow and delays the smokeless effect.
• Let it cool before packing. Stainless steel holds heat. Wait 30–45 minutes after the fire dies before folding and storing.
• Ash management. The nesting ash pan lifts out for easy disposal. At campsites, scatter cool ash in the woods away from trails. Pack it out at Leave No Trace sites.
